Action Bronson

OK, so in the same vain as my Backtrack post I'm going to talk about someone in Hip-Hop that has been out and known for a while but that i am still really excited for and eager to hear more from. Action Bronson is the savior of real hip-hop rite now. You all know him as the dude cooking on YouTube and if you love hardcore new york 90s style hip-hop you love this motherfucker. A dope lyricist raping over crazy beats with flow and a unique style. He has always been compared to Ghostface and at first i really felt that comparison, but after listing to everything of his i could get my hands on i feel he is very much his own artist. Bronson is part of the same crew as Mayhem Lauren, another 90s style rapper that I'm listening to non-stop nowadays. Download the free mixtape with Party Supplies; Blue Chips.

Backtrack

Backtrack is my favorite band of recent years. Everyone who listens to hardcore knows them and has for a while but i thought i would take this opportunity to talk about why Backtrack is the truth. If you like Trapped Under Ice and Terror Backtrack is for you. But, if you like old school NYHC then Backtrack is also for you. How often do you get to say that? Think Killing Time(a big influence if you hadn't already guessed that by the name), Breakdown, Uppercut and Outburst. I think the cover of the Darker Half album is reminiscent of the Crumbsuckers LP, but that may be obvious. I don't pick up on any musical influence from Crumbuckers or crossover bands like them though. The song Darker Half has been my Nike+ power song for the past 2 months and i think Erase The Rat will be next. I love this album and although there are a lot of great hardcore releases in recent years, for my money this is going to be the one that is mentioned next to Age Of Quarrel and Victim In Pain. Was that too bold a statement? I'm sure a lot of people will think so but fuck them. Listen to this album and then go back and fuck with Deal with the devil. I'm looking forward to hearing what these guys drop next but in the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing them at Dingbatz. According to another flyer i saw, the Dingbatz show is also going to feature Knuckle Up and Blind Justice. Check out there Tumblr and keep an eye out for anything coming from them. BACKTRACK TUMBLR
